Pique, Pjanic and Memphis still not part of Xavi's Barcelona plans

| sport

The trio have still not featured competitively this season

There are just three outfield players registered to the first team that have still featured in any of Barcelona's four games this season against Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad, Real Valladolid and Sevilla..

They are Gerard Pique, Miralem Pjanic and Memphis Depay. They have been in each match day squad but have not yet made it off the bench.

Of course, neither Hector Bellerin nor Marcos Alonso have featured, either, but they were signed at the end of last week and have not yet made a squad.

Bellerin and Alonso could make their debuts on Wednesday when Barça kick off their Champions League campaign against Viktoria Plzen, while Pique, Pjanic and Memphis maybe hoping for their first minutes as well.

Pique has gone from No.1 centre-back to seemingly the fifth choice this season, with the arrivals of Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde pushing down the pecking order, with Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo also preferred.

Pjanic was convinced by Pjanic in preseason and said he would have a role to play but the club are still working on a possible exit to Saudi Arabia, where the transfer window remains open.

The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given Memphis the hope of more minutes but he is still behind Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha, Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres in the list of attackers.

Memphis is out of contract next summer and can leave for free.
