Gerard Pique spoke to beIN Sports after Barcelona’s comeback win against Borussia Monchengladbach, displaying his satisfaction at scoring the winning goal in the Champions League clash.
“It’s a really important victory. We knew it would be difficult against this rival away from home. They’ve won 14 of their last 16 home games in the Bundesliga. We produced a really good performance,” the defender said.
In this sense, he commented that the German side “are a really quick team, although they only had one chance in the first half, the goal. We had three or four clear chances which we couldn’t take.”
Pique felt the second half was “much better, creating chances, keeping the ball. They didn’t attack us as much. It has much merit to come here and to produce this performance.”
On his goal, he added: “It’s a set play we have worked on where I block. I saw the goalkeeper was a little insecure and I pounced on the rebound -- it went well!”
