Piqué reassures fans that the team's style will not change with the arrival of Valverde

In an interview with the Japanese magazine Soccer King he insists he wants to be president one day

Gerard Piqué thinks the arrival of Ernesto Valverde will help Barça stay motivated after the success in the last few years.

In an interview with the Japanese magazine Soccer King, Piqué said “we have changed manager many times, we’ve bought and sold loads of players but the philosophy at Barça as a club has remained the same. There’s no need to change. The arrival of Valverde increases our motivation”.

The central defender has been in the news after he published an Instagram post with Neymar saying the Brazilian was staying at Barça but the player himself then qualified this saying it was just his opinion and the squad’s wish.

Piqué also explained that he wanted to be Barça president one day, “I’m not made to be a coach. I want to be president of Barcelona, that’s my dream. When I retire I want to do whatever I can to help the club I love”.

He also complained again about referees and asked FIFA to use technology more: “If I was FIFA president, I’d change the refereeing system. You can see that they’re trying to do their job under a lot of pressure. To get rid of controversies and injustices, I think it’d be better to change the environment and to introduce technology”.
