The defender is understood to be suffering with a calf problem

Gerard Piqué might miss the trip to Athletic Bilbao (Saturday, 8:00 PM) with an injury. According to TV3, he has been suffering with a calf problem since the final stages of last weekend's match against Real Sociedad, in which Barça ended up running out 4-2 winners.

According to the Catalan TV channel, Barça's medical department have recommended that Piqué takes a week off from competitive football. Barça's second captain, however, does not consider this to be necessary. He has trained as normal in the last few days and feels that he is ready to help his team and command the defensive line. He will be assessed tomorrow ahead of this weekend's difficult trip to the Basque Country. Koeman is sure to provide more details on the injury in tomorrow's press conference.

If Piqué misses the game through injury, Koeman will be able to count on Eric García and Ronald Araujo at the heart of defence. Óscar Mingueza is another option, although he returned to training with an injury that he picked up during the Olympics from which he has not fully recovered. Umtiti and Lenglet, meanwhile, are unlikely to be selected given the questions surrounding their future.
