Andorra started the season with a goalless draw in Spanish third tier

After becoming the owner of Andorra at the end of 2018, Gerard Pique hasn't missed a detail in his aim to take the club into professional football.

After a few months in charge, he oversaw the club's double promotion into Segunda B due to the financial problems of Catalan side Reus.

They started their first season in the third tier of Spanish football well but dipped off before lockdown and ended the campaign ninth, missing out on a playoff place, when coronavirus intervened.

Therefore, Andorra didn't achieve their aim of gaining promotion to the second tier of Spanish football, which is professional.

Now they have the difficult task this season of being one of just four out of 102 clubs to gain promotion to the second division.

Their campaign got underway on Sunday Llagostera and Pique, a day after Barcelona's loss to Getafe, wanted to be present for the occasion.

Pique attended the game in Llagostera with his partner, Shakira, and their two children. They witnessed a goalless draw.
