The club is looking to find a defender who can alternative with Jordi Alba next season

FC Barcelona are looking to tie up their new left back next week. All eyes are focused on the Bundesliga and two options stand out from the rest: Philipp Max (Augsburg) and Jerome Roussillon (Wolfsburg). They are the best options within Barça's price range after Real Betis demanded too much for Junior Firpo.

Negotiations with Max are more advanced and the defender is even catching the eye of current Champions League holders Liverpool. Like Alba, he's more known for his offensive abilities and is often found near the top of the assists chart. He's valued at around €20m which means Barça are facing a lot of competition to wrap up a deal.

Jerome Roussillon is a French full back who came through the ranks at Montpellier but who has exploded onto the scene with Wolfsburg. He's fast, great in the final third of the pitch and is very close to a France call-up. He's expected to cost a little more.

Barça don't want to spend much more than €20m and have already ruled out moves for Guerreiro and more recently Danny Rose (Tottenham). However the chosen one will come from the Bundesliga, now it's just a question of deciding which of the two will compete alongside Jordi Alba next season.
