The Barcelona midfielder is on loan at the Premier League side

Andre Gomes has spoken for the first time since he made his Everton debut in the Premier League. The Portugal midfielder, who joined the club on loan from Barcelona in the summer, has made two appearances and is happy in England.

Speaking to Everton's official site, he has revealed who convinced him to swap Catalonia for Merseyside.

"I'm sure I took the best decision," he said. "I spoke with Phil Neville. We've been friends since we met at Valencia and I knew he'd played at Everton and knew how the club worked. I also spoke with Lucas Digne. He played with me at Barcelona and signed two or three weeks before. He gave me information about the club.

"I am proud to be at Everton and happy with my decision. I'm feeling confident and feel better every day. I am really happy with everything."

Gomes also revealed that Everton were not the only interested party: "Of course I had other offers. [Coach] Marco Silva was important when it came to making the final decision. His way of managing and the confidence he showed in me were key."
