Pessimism over Jules Kounde injury for the Clasico
The French defender went off in the 2-0 win over Austria
Bad news for Xavi Hernandez. Jules Kounde, one of Barcelona’s most important defenders, and Memphis Depay, are injured in the international break. The French defender has been key since he was registered for his team, decisive in both boxes - three clean sheets and three assists in five appearances.
However RAC1 say that the Frenchman’s thigh issue is not looking good. Kounde will return in the coming hours to Barcelona for tests. There is not optimism at the Joan Gamper training ground.
He will miss the games immediately after the international break most likely, and is a doubt for the key week in October. Barcelona play Inter Milan at home on October 12, and then in the Clasico at the Bernabeu on October 16. It’s probable that the former Sevilla defender cannot participate in the games.
Xavi will have to look deeper in his wardrobe; Hector Bellerin and Sergi Roberto are options, while Ronald Araujo can play right-back too, and has done so against Vinicius before.
