Pep Guardiola not ruling out Eric Garcia moving before summer

The Man City coach left the door open to Garcia leaving but it's tough for Barca

Pep Guardiola has been clear for a while that there’s no way to convince Eric Garcia to continue. The centre-back has taken his decision for some time; he wants to go to Barca and as soon as possible.

Although it’s almost impossible for him to come now because of the Catalans’s finances, Guardiola has not shut the door completely.

“I’m quite sure that he’ll go at the end of the season. In the window now depends on other clubs,” said Pep.

He spoke after City’s 3-1 win over Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup, which Garcia started.

Despite finding out the situation, Guardiola is still giving him minutes here and there, although he is playing less this season. That’s partly down to some injury problems and having Covid. “We’ll see how the winter window ends,” said Pep. “But I don’t think that he will sign a new contract.”
