The former Las Palmas and current Barcelona midfielder spoke at an event for Kick Out Plastic

Pedri Gonzalez took part in a presentation by the Kick Out Plastic foundation, a group with the mission of stopping single-use plastics and creating a more sustainable future. Along with Pedri, Ferran Torres, Omar Mascarell, Ivana Andres and Marcos Senna were also part of it.

"We have to save the planet between us and especially the young ones," said Pedri.

"Maybe because I am Canarian, because my home is of great natural beauty, I'm especially sensitive when it comes to looking after the environment. I grew up in the street, surrounded by beaches and mountains. There are places too beautiful to be filled with plastic or lost because of people's neglect.

"I think my parents educated me well in this sense. At home we always recycled, when I go to the beach a lot of the time I collect the trash I find and throw it away."
