Veiga is one of the best players in South America in his position

No matter how much Javier Tebas approves the viability plan presented by Barcelona, this summer there will be a lack of cash to carry out the second sporting revolution that Xavi and the sporting management yearn for. For this reason, the club have a long list of economically more profitable options, but of proven quality.

In this context, one of the names that the technical secretariat has on the table is that of the Brazilian Raphael Veiga, the brain of Palmeiras, who has nine trophies on his curriculum with the 'Verdao,' among them two consecutive Libertadores (2020 and 2021) and the last Brasileirao.

The creative midfielder, with a good left foot, is, at 27 years of age, indisputably one of the best players in South America in his position. He has a contract until the end of December 2026. His signing, however, would cost around 15 million euros and his salary would fit within the existing Blaugrana structure.

Although he has never played in Europe, he has experience, a very good understanding of the game and makes the difference in games of maximum pressure in the Libertadores.

Several European clubs are already on the lookout for him. He would be a player with a winning mentality, a great personality and a collective conception of the game who would quickly adapt to Xavi's tactical script.

During Tite's time as Brazil coach, the press clamoured for him to be called up, but the squad was closed in a decision that ended up paying dearly in Qatar. He made his late debut with the 'Canarinha' in March and, in the June FIFA dates, he will be in the two friendlies that the CBF is preparing, one of which is very likely to be played in Barcelona. He will take part in the new cycle of the Seleçao regardless of who ends up being the coach.

Veiga is one of the highest-scoring midfielders in world football. He impresses with his consistency. In the last three seasons, he has scored at least 18 goals per year. Since 2020, when he reached his peak, he has 67 goals and 25 assists.

And, in four months of the current season, he is on course to surpass all his personal records: in the 23 matches he has already scored 10 goals and 8 assists, and has won two titles: the Supercopa do Brasil, against Flamengo, and the Paulista Championship.
