Overmars promises Luis Suarez that Ajax will make an offer for him

Ajax's director of football will do everything possible to bring Suarez back to the club this summer

Luis Suarez's future remains unknown but the two early frontrunners for his signature are Juventus and Ajax. Marc Overmars, the Dutch club's director of football, has told Suarez: in the next few days, we are going to make you an offer.

COVID-19 has seriously impacted the financial situation of all the clubs involved but Ajax are set to cash in on Donny van de Beek and this could free up the money to fund a deal for Suarez. Sergiño Dest is another player who might leave Ajax this window.

Overmars has asked Suarez to wait for him to prepare a financial package which could tempt the Uruguayan striker back to Amsterdam.

Suarez and Barça are still discussing his departure from the club and, if he's released on a free transfer, Ajax could match the same wages he's currently on at the Camp Nou. Whilst they can't afford to pay a transfer fee, they believe the salary offer might be enough to tempt Suarez to return. Ajax would want him to sign a two-year deal before he later goes on to finish his career in the MLS.
