Barça have already signed De Jong but could his Ajax teammate follow?
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has spoken to TV3 about, among other things, the future of defender Matthijs de Ligt at the Dutch club.
De Ligt is wanted by Europe's biggest clubs and Overmars, a former Barcelona player, spoke to TV3 about him as he oversaw Ajax train at the Bernabeu ahead of Tuesday's Champions League game against Real Madrid.
"De Ligt has an incredible personality," he said. "He's our centre-back, our captain and he has promising future. I love Barcelona but I don't know what he will do."
Barça have already confirmed the signing of Frenkie de Jong, De Ligt's teammate, from Ajax. The midfielder will join in the summer for an initial 75 million euros.
Before then, De Jong and De Ligt hope to end the season on a high, starting with Tuesday's game against Madrid. Ajax go into the second leg trailing 2-1 from the first leg.
"It will be difficult, but our players are ready," Overmars said. "Madrid have the chance to turn things around (after three straight defeats at home)."
