The Dutch duo are wanted by Europe's biggest clubs

Marc Overmars, the sporting director at Ajax Amsterdam, is now planning for life without two of the club's biggest starts, Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.

Overmars has begun to make plans for where to invest the money the Dutch duo will fetch in the summer, with Barcelona keen on both of them.

"The finances are very important," Overmars said in an interview with the club's television channel. "Before, players stayed at Ajac until there were 24, 25 or 26, but that's history now. It's over. Now, when they're 20 or 21, the best talent leaves.

"You're never going to keep a team together for very long. You're always obliged to start to build a new team. Ajax's objective os tp remain among the best 16 teams in Europe."

Overmars knows he will have around 140 million euros for the De Jong and De Ligt, but he also doesn't rule out bringing back players that left previously, like Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

"I've read that they want to return. I would like it to be soon, while they're still in shape and motivated by success," he said.
