The Frenchman suffered his ninth injury at Barcelona

FC Barcelona have lost Ousmane Dembele until the end of February 2020. They confirmed that yesterday, revealing he would be out for around 10 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Dembele will miss a maximum of 16 gams and a minimum of 13, guaranteed to be out for the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa last 16.

Dembele’s injury was “the bad news from the game,” said Valverde, after Barca beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1.

Dembele’s injury will see him first miss a clash at Atletico Madrid on Sunday, up to the game against Real Betis on Feb 9.

Between them, Barca have 10 league games, the last Champions League group game, two Spanish Super Cup games (if they get to the final), and three Copa del Rey games.

The forward may be back for the Copa semi-finals first leg on Feb 16 (estimated), or the league clash with Getafe at Camp Nou.

Dembele has nine injuries in his time at Barca, three in each campaign.

These set-backs have seen him miss 46 of 137 matches. Dembele has missed 29 league games, 10 Copa games and 7 Champions League matches. He was also banned for two games this season.

The truth is that Dembele’s new injury has left him feeling very hurt. He was crying on the pitch, sunken. He cannot understand his bad luck. Barcelona and his people know that on top of working with him physically, they also have to make him mentally ready too.

For Dembele, right now, getting to February is like getting to the end of the world. He waves goodbye to the year with bad sensations, but a little closer to returning to the pitch, where feels most happy.
