His agent will travel to the Catalan capital to iron things out after Malcom's signing

Ousmane Dembele is worrying Barcelona. The player did not work his way into the team last season and now his status is unclear at the club. What’s more, his people have told the club their discomfort at the signing of Malcom, considered a clear competitor with the Frenchman for a place in the team.

Dembele wants minutes at Barca and the club calmed him down and showed confidence in him, but it looks like it might not have worked.

The French player left for the World Cup without earning his place in the side. However Barcelona made it clear to him they would double down on their bet and he would be important this season.

He started the World Cup as a starter but won it on the bench and was surprised by the strike for Malcom, a right footed winger with similar characteristics to him.

His people moved quickly to ask Barca about the situation and Barca are trying calm him down again. They expect the bet from him and he knows he has to deliver because competition is very tough at a club like Barca.

Dembele’s agent is set to travel to the Catalan capital in the next days to analyse the situation with the club. There are nerves because Dembele bet on Barca too and doesn’t want to be ostracised again.

Barcelona are working from the position that he is untransferable after the big money they spent on him and will try to help him come good. He’s very young, with enormous potential, and he should focus on bringing that out at Barca.

Dembele has not cut his holiday short to appear in the Spanish Super Cup, which indicates he might well start the season from the bench waiting for his chance.

Valverde backed Dembele publicly and hopes this will be his year. Barca are working to manage this mini-crisis. They know it is time to give maximum care and attention to a player who cost 100 million euros and who has everything to come good.
