Oscar Mingueza convincing Barca not to sign a centre back in Jan
Ronald Koeman is happy with the defender's performances so far since he's come in
Oscar Mingueza is taking full advantage of his chance. With Gerard Pique out for months, the Blaugrana looked certain to need a centre-back in the January transfer window, but Mingueza’s form has been impressive enough to change the club’s plans.
Right now they are seriously considering not bringing in a new player, because Ronald Koeman is happy with Mingueza.
The Dutchman is a demanding coach and he said the youngster must improve, but despite that he has been encouraged by his performances so far.
Barcelona have three clean sheets in three matches with Mingueza at centre-back. There’s no better tribute to his performances than that.
Samuel Umtiti is on his way back too and he could also help out, along with Ronald Araujo and the now main man, Clement Lenglet.
Eric Garcia, then, can come for free in the summer and Barca can save their pennies in January.
