Barça have a backup plan in the case they lose Umtiti this summer

Planning for next season at Barcelona is almost done, with the exception of the sales of players who will not get much playing time.

Barça have either closed or are on track to close deals for Arthur and Griezmann, but the plan has varied slightly in recent weeks due to Umtiti's situation.

The France defender, who has a 60 million euro release clause, has a huge offer on the table from Manchester United, which has set alarm bells ringing.

Therefore, the club have begun to look into coming up with a contingency plan -- they don't want a repeat of the Neymar situation.

Upamecano is one of the players Barça have an eye on

On the list of possible signings is Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano. He has a similar profile to Umtiti: quick, good on the ball.

The reports are good, although his price is prohibitive. His release clause is 100 million euros and Leipzig have shown that they are difficult to negotiate with in the past.

A surprise target is another Bundesliga player: Schalke's Thilo Kehrer. A versatile defender, his price would be around 35 million euros with his contract up in 2019.

Schalke have put him on the market and Barça would seriously consider him if they lost Umtiti.

The third option is Sevilla's Clement Lenglet. His release clause is 30 million euros and he's done well since moving to La Liga.
