OFFICIAL: Wagué has been promoted to the first team at Barça
The Senegalese international has been officially promoted to the senior team and handed the number '16' shirt
It's been spoken about in secret but now it's official: Moussa Wague has been promoted to the senior side at FC Barcelona. The club made the announcement this Friday on social media.
Barça confirmed that the Senegalese international will wear the number '16' shirt next season. It's a number previously worn by Xavi Hernández and Sergio Busquets.
Wagué, who returned to training this week, was involved in the African Cup of Nations last month.
He's the fourth new member of the senior side following the additions of Frenkie de Jong, Neto and Antoine Griezmann. Wagué could make his first appearance under his new status this Sunday against Arsenal in the Trofeu Joan Gamper. The full-back played for the first team at Barça last season against Huesca, Celta and Eibar.
