Official: Ronald Araujo renews with Barça until 2026
The Uruguayan centre-back had a deal which expired in 2023 and there were plenty of interested clubs
It’s official. Barcelona have announced Ronald Araujo is staying until June 2026 after signing a new contract with the club.
The player had other options and higher offers but wanted to stay at Barcelona to succeed at Camp Nou.
FC Barcelona believed his renewal was key and have slapped a 1 billion euro buy-out clause on the defender, similar to what they did with Pedri and Ansu Fati.
Mateu Alemany and Co have been working on this for months with Araujo an essential part of the backline now and in the future.
Now there are two more cases to close: Gavi and Ousmane Dembele. The player will sign his deal on Friday 29th April at 1.30 pm at the Camp Nou.
