Barça will receive 12M euros for the deal

It's official! FC Barcelona and Chelsea have reached an agreement on the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who will sign for two seasons.

The Gabon striker will leave the club after half a season in a deal that will earn the club 12 million euros.

This is the official statement from FC Barcelona:

"FC Barcelona and Chelsea Football Club have reached an agreement on the transfer of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang for 12 million euros.

FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Aubameyang for his professionalism, commitment, dedication and ever-present positive and warm approach regarding every aspect involving the Club. We wish him the best of fortune and every success in the future. Your smile radiated happiness both on and off the pitch, thank you. Barça will always be your home.

The negotiations between the clubs went on for weeks but were never in jeopardy despite the broken jaw injury suffered by the striker during the theft at his home where he was assaulted.

Aubameyang's goalscoring record for Barca in the few months he has been at the club has exceeded expectations. The former Arsenal man scored 13 goals in 23 appearances across La Liga and the Europa League. He propelled them to second in the domestic competition, endearing himself to the Barca faithful.

His salary, which increased this season, and the club's financial situation, were the main factors behind the deal.

It is also worth remembering that the player arrived at Ciudad Condal in the last moments of the winter transfer window for free.

At 33 years of age, he was destined to be Robert Lewandowski's understudy.
