The Germans have signed the striker on a permanent basis from Benfica

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed the signing of Luka Jovic on a permanent basis. The German side have executed their option to sign the Serbian striker after an impressive two-year loan spell in the Bundesliga.

Jovic, 21, has signed a contract with Frankfurt until 2023 and Benfica will pocked a reported seven million euros as part of the deal plus a percentage of any future sale.

Big clubs, including Barcelona, are circling around the young forward but director Fredi Bobic says Frankfurt will fight to keep him at the club next season.

“Luka's development is very pleasing for us and it was never in question as to whether we wanted to tie him to the club,” Bobic said in a press release.

“He is a player with extraordinary abilities. It is important to us that we have bound him to our club.”

However, the reality is Frankfurt may have to sell in the summer. Barça are one of the clubs closely following Jovic and there could be big bids this summer.

Jovic is having a fine season. So far he has scored 17 times in the league and created six more. In addition, he's netted eight goals in 11 Europa League games.
