Ferran will sit out the league games against Getafe and Girona after Atletico red

In the final minutes of Barcelona's win over Atlético Madrid on Sunday, Ferran Torres and Stefan Savic got into a 'wrestling' match in the middle of the pitch after a fight for the ball. This led to a red card for both and they have subsequently both been banned for two games.

Ferran will miss the league games against Getafe and Girona. In these two games, Barça will also be without Robert Lewandowski through suspension.

Ferran's red was the third red card for Barça players in the last three games, an atypical situation. Jordi Alba was sent off for two bookings against Espanyol and missed the Atletico win.

Despite the ban, though, Ferran will be able to play the Super Cup semifinal match against Real Betis on Thursday and a potential final on Sunday.

Referee's report

Here is the report delivered by referee José Luis Munuera Montero at the end of the match at the Civitas Metropolitano:

"In the 90th minute, the player (11) Torres García, Ferran was sent off for the following reason: Persistently grabbing an opponent by the hair, while the ball was in play but not within a distance of being played between them."

"In the 90th minute, the player (15) Savic, Stefan was sent off for the following reason: Holding an opponent by the neck with his arm continuously with excessive force, while the ball was in play but not within a distance of being played between them."
