Nico Gonzalez arrives in Portugal ahead of Porto transfer from Barcelona

Nico González is in Porto to finalise his move to the Portuguese club. The Barcelona midfielder, who after returning from his loan spell at Valencia did not take part in the tour of the United States in able to sort out his future, hopes to complete the transfer by Wednesday.

The agreement that Barça officials have reached with their counterparts at Porto and that could be sealed shortly is a transfer worth between €8 and €10 million, with a buy-back option of €15m for the Catalan giants, which could be increased depending on the performances of the player in Portugal.

It is precisely this point that had delayed the resolution of Nico's transfer, as Porto did not want a pure and simple loan but wanted to do a permanent deal, something that created misgivings at Barça. In the end, the option chosen is a sale with an option to buy him back, which all parties will feel comfortable with.

As far as the player is concerned, this also leaves open the option of returning to Barça if in the future they decide to apply the buy-back clause. Nico will sign for Porto for the next four seasons and has decided to go for this option once Valencia, where he played last season, withdrew from the bidding as they lacked the financial muscle to deal with the operation.
