The French midfielder may not sign a new contract with Chelsea, who have heavily invested

N'Golo Kante could be free to leave Chelsea this summer at zero cost as his contract renewal talks with the London club have proven complicated. Chelsea's wild transfer market will mean a revolution in the squad and it is likely that Kante will sign for another club. Barça have been keeping a close eye on the situation for months because they like the midfielder, but they are still awaiting to see his physical recovery after injury, and no decision has been taken.

The Blaugrana sports department have been talking to Kante to find out his intentions and to convey an interest without reaching any kind of agreement. His name is particularly popular among the club's sporting executives, but his physical condition could be a handicap. Kante has a hamstring problem and has been out of action almost since the end of August, so there are many doubts about his future performance. He has not yet been able to make his comeback, although he is expected to play in February.

Chelsea have strengthened their midfield with the idea of completely remodeling the team after a lack of results in the Premier League. The investment has been historic in expectation of better performance and the London club will have to release a lot of dead weight in June. There is talk of the more than possible departures of Kovacic (for sale) and Kante, who is out of contract. At Barça, his name is still in the mix but negotiations are not deep yet.
