The World Cup is over for the game’s biggest stars, with the exception of Antoine Griezmann and Harry Kane. Glances are now turning back towards the transfer market, which could Barcelona and Pais Saint-Germain involved -- featuring Luis Suarez.
In reality, the signing of the Uruguayan would go down well with PSG’s biggest star, Neymar. The Brazilian has now assumed that he will spend another season in Paris, with Real Madrid much more interested in Kylian Mbappe as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement. Neymar wants his second season in France to be much better than the first.
To start with, Neymar will try to avoid awkward personal situations this season and would prefer Edinson Cavani to leave. Their relationship has never been the same since they clashed last season and Neymar hopes Cavani leaves. PSG have put him on the market and there’s interest from various clubs, like Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli.
Cavani’s hours in Paris are numbered without the blessing of Neymar, or the rest of the Brazilian players at the club. The Uruguayan striker, 31, is also not completed against a fresh start after five years in Ligue 1.
That’s where Suarez enters on the season. PSG want to sign a new No.9 and Suarez fills the criteria. He’s an insatiable goal scorer, competitive and has a good ‘feeling’ with Neymar.
The former Santos forward needs to grow after a disappointing year. The injury, missing decisive Champions League games and a World Cup exit has seen his reputation dip. Right now, he wouldn’t even be considered for the Ballon d’Or, one of the objectives which took him to PSG. Paired with Suarez, he could have a chance to reestablish himself in the race again.
