Neymar to Barcelona: A solution for the PSG star's situation

PSG have reached the conclusion that the Neymar situation is irreversible. He wants to leave and the club have a problem on their hands. His salary is astronomic and his presence in the squad could upset the new project. The PSG coaches know the best thing they can do is let him go, while trying to come out on top of an operation that could; prove historic. Neymar only wants to go to Barcelona and the two clubs are condemned to find an agreement with one another. The moment has arrived to discuss the right economic and sporting formula, and the two parties are getting to work.

Barca found it hard to even pay Antoine Griezmann’s release clause and had to be clever with the financing. That is a problem with the Neymar deal. If Barca must pay, then that fee needs to go through next July. However they are willing to give PSG two players in exchange. One of them is Philippe Coutinho. However the PSG directors aren’t convinced about player swaps.

So Barcelona are willing to offer just one player and pay the difference in price, as long as that fee can be paid in July 2020. PSG want around 200 million for Neymar, having started at an asking price of 300m.

PSG have made it clear they want money. Yes, if the sporting technicians are interested in a player then that works too, but there must be money involved. The loan of Coutinho with an obligatory option to buy and a 70 million euro fee next summer may prove a good option for the two clubs.

PSG want to solve the situation quickly. Barca have no rush but they know the player is uncomfortable at present. The situation could become more complicated if another club join the race for Neymar. While he only wants to go to Barcelona, if they get another big offer they might try and force him elsewhere.
