Neymar Junior has decided to do everything in his power to make an FC Barcelona return a genuine possibility. So far the Brazilian had kept his silence but that could change as the player is willing to go public about his desire for a Camp Nou return. He's ready to make a statement where he'll admit he made a mistake when he left Barça two years ago.
Neymar regrets the whole PSG adventure and knows that he was blinded by the money and the chance to lead his own project rather than form part of Lionel Messi's one. However, the truth is Neymar's level and value has crashed since swapping Spain for France.
PSG have failed to get past the Round of 16 in the last two editions of the Champions League. Neymar has seen his new side doesn't have the required quality to compete against Europe's elite sides. They were soundly beaten by Real Madrid in his first season there and, whilst on the injury table, saw PSG throw away a commanding position against a weakened Manchester United in the second one.
Ready to do whatever it takes
PSG have continued to dominate Ligue 1 but there's practically no competition for them. The lack of an impact on a global scale has hurt his brand and marketing ability. This wasn't helped by Brazil's poor showing at the Russia World Cup either. Neymar isn't even in the running for the Ballon d'Or nowadays.
This is why Neymar has decided, if it's necessary, he'll publicly admit he made a mistake by leaving Barça to join PSG. He's already told his close friends in the dressing room this. At 27 years of age, he knows rejoining Leo Messi will help elevate himself into the reckoning as the best in the world.
There would be consequences
If Neymar did make a statement such as that, the player would have to accept the damage it'd do to his image. Although PSG have technically put him up for sale, the supporters wouldn't accept hearing that a move to their club was a mistake. However Neymar, like many others before him, is willing to do whatever it takes in order to land his Barça return.
