Neymar: I want to stay at PSG... and hope Mbappe will as well

The former Barcelona forward says things have changed and he's happy in Paris

Since leaving Barcelona, Neymar has been as desired as he is hated in equal parts among the club's supporters. There are those that want Barça to re-sign him from Paris Saint-Germain and those that won't forgive him for how he left.

Many members of the squad, like Lionel Messi, have publicly voiced their desire for the Brazilian to come back to Camp Nou and some candidates for the presidency even used his name in their campaigns -- not that made the cut, mind. Barça financial problems mean it's impossible anyway but Neymar has now put the final nail in the coffin.

"I feel happy," he said after Sunday's shock defeat to Lorient. "A lot has chances, I can't say exactly why, if it's me or something else, but I feel good right now. I have adapted and I am more relaxed. I want to stay at PSG."

Neymar's contract expires in 2022 but PSG want to extend it. Mbappe is also out of contract in just over a year and Neymar issued a call for the French star to renew his terms as well.

"I hope Mbappe stays, too," the former Barça forward added. "We want Paris to be a great team."

With these comments, Neymar's unlikely return to Barça seems as far away as ever.

On the controversy around his birthday parties, he said: "Who doesn't like to party? We all love to enjoy ourselves. I know when I can party and when I can't, even if some people say I am immature and don't know what I am doing. If you're on football 100 percent of the time, I think you'd explode, I would never perform. A party is a chance to relax."
