Neymar frustrated, sad & angry at failed Barça transfer

Neymar's reaction was one of anger when he learned that Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain's talks over a transfer had stalled and he had to remain in Paris until, at least, January. Remember that next summer, Neymar can leave if a club pays an amount close to €170 million. 

People close to Neymar reveal that he's absolutely worn down, as has never been the case in his career. He's still incredulous about the Qatari's decision to block a move to Barça when all of their terms had been met: €150m, including €20m of his own money, plus Ivan Rakitic, Jean Clair Todibo and the loan of Ousmane Dembele. 

Frustration and anger

SPORT have been told that he feels a mixture of frustration and anger after realising that the only objective PSG had and have is to punish him. That's the only way Nasser Al-Khelaifi's decision can be explained, as it has no justification from a sporting point of view at all (there's a difficult dressing room atmosphere now) or a financial one, given the whole deal was worth more than €200m.  

As much as PSG said he was not for sale, that there was no release clause Neymar was convinced that in the last minute of the transfer window they would open the door for a Camp Nou return. 

He did not imagine happening what has happened: that PSG would oblige him to remain in France against his will, at least until the winter transfer window. That's why he's pissed off. 

Neymar is stunned. He couldn't force PSG's hand. The Brazilian felt he had made it clear and that there was enough time for them to relent and give him the transfer he desired. He knows Barça responded to all PSG's financial needs, which creates even more frustration. 

In May, when he left Paris for the Brazil team, to prepare for the Copa America, he told the club he wanted to leave: he told his teammates, the coach and the sporting director at the time, Antero Henrique (and later his replacement, Leonardo) and the Qatari owners. The only response he received was a public telling off from Al Khelaifi and the club's refusal to seriously negotiate with Barcelona. 

Disappointed

Having to continue in Paris is a setback for Neymar, who hoped to relaunch his career in Barcelona. Leaving PSG would bring an end to two tough years when he's not achieved what he had hoped: he's not got close to the Champions League and is dropping down the Ballon d'Or list. 

It's been the toughest summer of Neymar's life. First, he had to deal with the rape allegations brought against him. Then he injured his ankle and missed Brazil's Copa America campaign, which, as hosts, they won. Now he's seen his move to Camp Nou break down.
