Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes is an unattainable target for Barcelona

The midfielder is miles out of what Barça can afford to invest this summer

Barcelona have not at any time contemplated the possibility of bringing in Newcastle defensive midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

Although English media had speculated about an offer of 100 million euros (where would Barça get such an amount?) for the Brazilian international, the truth is that his name has never been on the table at the club.

It is an impossible dream because of his price tag and, in an era of a Viability and Financial Fair Play plan, Barça have not wasted a single minute in consulting with the player's camp about the situation.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle from Olympique Lyon in January 2022 for more than 42 million euros and is now negotiating the extension of his contract, which expires in 2026. The positions are still far apart, which is why there has been a certain amount of media hype surrounding him.

The Brazilian, who was linked with Real Madrid as a replacement for Casemiro, is the cornerstone of a team that, having qualified for the next edition of the Champions League, is preparing a second footballing revolution and will undoubtedly be one of the big players of the summer transfer window.
