Newcastle, willing to pay big bucks to beat Villa to Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian playmaker is not needed at Camp Nou so they hope to use him to cash in

Philippe Coutinho could help Barcelona economically this summer by leaving. The Brazilian will not continue at the club and his future points towards the Premier League. He’s on loan at Aston Villa with a 40m buy clause, although the player will have a lot to say about his future and other offers on the table.

Newcastle, through intermediaries, have shown interest in the player and would pay him a big wage. Barcelona know Villa are his priority but they will not accept cuts on the fee and if Villa don’t stump it up, Newcastle could be a more profitable destination.

Coutinho has hit the Premier League in good form. The Brazilian has found himself again and English football is the perfect ecosystem for him. Convinced by his coach and friend Steven Gerrard to come, Coutinho has taken advantage of the opportunity.

Barcelona are paying part of his wage at present and that will not happen when he leaves. Coutinho also wants the chance to win titles which Villa might not offer him, though he is grateful to them. His people are looking at other options.

Newcastle have shown the most interest and have contacted Barcelona. The new owners have helped bring the team out of the drop zone and are looking at powering up the project further in the summer. Coutinho could be a big part of that and Barcelona are rubbing their hands. The club want to seal a deal before June 30 to help with the books.
