Newcastle asking after Barcelona's Clement Lenglet

The French defender is a target for the Saudi Arabian club

It’s no secret that Newcastle want to bring in top talent in the coming months. Now owned by Saudi Arabia, they want to become one of the most powerful sides in the world.

Manager Steve Bruce will shortly be sacked. Meanwhile, Newcastle want to bring in Clement Lenglet to bolster the defence. SPORT have learnt they want a left footed defender who can perform immediately and won’t cost too much as a starting point given Barcelona’s economic circumstances.

It would be a ‘light’ investment in the coming months to then splurge in the summer.

Lenglet has barely played this season with Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia getting a lot of game time.

Another, more expensive, defender linked with Newcastle is Juventus’s De Ligt.
