The Bosnia international could return to his former club this summer

Massimiliano Allegri wants to coach Miralem Pjanic again and Miralem Pjanic wants to play for Massimiliano Allegri again.

A year after leaving Juventus for Barcelona, in a deal that saw Arthur Melo move the other way, it seems Pjanic wants to turn the clock back.

After playing around 1,300 minutes across 30 games in all competitions in 2020-21, he hasn't convinced Barça coach Ronald Koeman of his work and his camp are pushing for a return to Juventus.

The dream of returning to Turin has gained strength following the appointment of Allegri, who was his coach at Juve for the majority of his four years at the club.

Message

"Congratulations, boss," was the message Pjanic sent to Allegri after his return to Juve.

"Thanks, Mire," came the reply. "I hope to have you back with me! You will have an important role here."

Allegri hopes to give Pjanic the keys to the Juventus midfield once again as they look to claim back the Serie A title after losing it to Inter Milan this season.

Without Allegri, Juve only finished fourth, behind Inter, Milan and Atalanta. They only qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season because Napoli dropped points, leading to Andrea Pirlo being dismissed as the Juve coach.

Allegri's clear on what he wants and that Pjanic will be fundamental in his midfield. In Italy, they're sure that, sooner or later, an agreement will be reached.

However, they believe it will be a loan move, freeing up money to sign the young Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli as well.
