The Italian club want to offer him a new long-term deal on slightly reduced terms

Barcelona and Juventus are among the sides monitoring the defender's situation

Napoli do not want to lose defender Kalidou Koulibaly. His contract expires in 2023 but the club won't make it easy for the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, who are keen on the Senegal centre-back. What's more, they continue to work on a renewal, although the player's financial demands remain a major hurdle at this stage.

Koulibaly is the best-paid player in the Napoli squad with a salary of €6 million. However, that figure does not fit within their current limits, given the delicate financial moment the Italian club are going through.

Therefore, there is a meeting planned next week with the Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli; and Koulibaly's agent Fali Ramadani.

A long-term contract will be on the table: four-years at €4m per season, with another €1m annually in potential bonuses. It should be highlighted that Koulibaly is nearly 31, so the deal will run until he is 35.
