The Bayern coach has given an update on the striker's future in Germany

Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann says he wants to keep Robert Lewandowski and insists that talks to renew the striker are going well.

Speaking ahead of the Bundesliga game against Stuttgart, he said: "I can't give any news [but] I asked if it was a good conversation. And it seems that it was. But there is nothing to report, in any sense.

"My position has not changed, we want to keep it as it is and extend his contract. I have already said that, anything else, Brazzo [Salihamidzic] must announce."

Bayern are holding talks with Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, with Barcelona waiting in the event the Polish international becomes available. Lewandowski, 33, is out of contract in 2023.

"You know that Pini likes to negotiate and so you need a little patience," Nagelsmann added. "But that's one of my great strengths."
