The Portuguese coach claims that no one can touch Messi in the race to be crowned this year's best player

Jose Mourinho, currently unemployed, has finally acknowledged Leo Messi's right to be named the best player in the world. In an interview with Russia Today, Mourinho admitted that Messi is the huge favourite to claim his sixth Ballon d'Or this season.

"He is having a phenomenal season and now, without Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League, he knows that the Ballon d'Or is waiting for him," admitted Mourinho. "When Messi has the ball and goes one on one, you're dead. There's no way to solve that problem. That's why I don't like to talk about individuals. The best way to stop him is as a team, creating a cage (for him)."

"The best way is to cage him in, to control him. Even then, his position is easy to understand, but it isn't easy to create that cage. He comes from the right and then he stays in the middle."
