Monaco's Vanderson would be a long-term bet for Barça at right-back

The Brazilian right-back is drawing attention from several European clubs

Signing Vanderson de Oliveira would be a bet on the future, on a player that could mark an era. It would not a short-term signing or a stop-gap. The Monaco right-back, 21, is ready to explode at the top level, where he could play for many years.

In Brazil, he is seen as an option for the national team from January, when Tite's time in charge comes to an end and a new cycle begins with a new coach. And that's why a queue of Premier League clubs has formed at his door.

If Barcelona have the financial muscle next summer and decide to invest big on a right-back, Vanderson is, without doubt, one of the names they would consider.

FACTOR DANI ALVES

The possible signing of Vanderson would draw parallels with Dani Alves' arrival in 2008 for €35 million from Sevilla. He went on to become the best right-back in Barça's history.

Given how clubs like Manchester United and Newcastle United are pushing, entering the bidding would require Vanderson's desire to move to Camp Nou. He would have to follow in the steps of Raphinha, who turned down bigger offers in England because he only had eyes for Barça.

Like all Monaco players, there is no release clause. His deal is up in 2027.

Vanderson is an attacking right-back of impressive size. He is 1.80m, fast, strong and has huge potential. He joined Monaco from Gremio in his homeland.

He is completely adapted to football in France, despite struggling with the rhythm at first, and has the confidence of his coach. Philippe Clement, who stopped him leaving the past summer when Barça's Mateu Alemany asked for a price and Man Utd showed interest.
