Miralem Pjanic in a pickle: Koeman is fed up
The Bosnian has offered nothing this season and his coach has had enough
He came to Barcelona to be an important part of the new project, with Arthur going the other way. Miralem Pjanic arrived at age 30, meaning Koeman lost a young player supposed to be the ‘new Xavi’ but gained one at his peak with enormous technical quality, experience and fine set piece ability. But at the hour of truth, he has given nothing. The Bosnian has not taken advantage of any opportunities he has been given.
The latest was against Elche and it had the whiff of a ‘match ball’ for Pjanic. And he lost it. The Bosnian has shown nothing. Riqui Puig and Ilaix Moriba should be playing ahead of him. De Jong and Pedri are the clear first choices in the more advanced roles.
Pjanic played in place of Busquets but lost seven balls and did not show the expected mobility in the middle. “He should improve his speed on the ball and be more conscious of his position on the pitch,” lambasted Koeman.
A sentence, and a death sentence for Pjanic’s gamete at Barca. He’s participated in 27 games out of 37 this season in some way or another and has no goals and no assists and no good performances. Koeman is tired of him.
