The intermediary took a big whack for helping to arrange the deal with the then Bordeaux star

Josep Maria Minguella was paid up to 10 million euros by Barcelona in commission for signing winger Malcom, according to Cadena SER.

The Blaugrana paid him as an intermediary to negotiate with Bordeaux in the name of the club in the summer of 2018. The Catalans paid 41m euros for Malcom, plus this extra 10m euros in variables.

Cadena SER had access to Minguella’s contract, signed by Josep Maria Bartomeu, Jordi Mestre and Oscar Grau.

The clauses specified that if he managed to stop another team signing Malcom he would take 1.5 million, which he did with Roma. There were other clauses like Minguella getting 20 per cent of the variables for the player and 15 per cent of the total fee after a year of the deal.

Per Junior Minguella, they got little over a million euros for the deal. However, per SER, club sources show they got 8.4 million euros. All for a player who didn’t last long at Camp Nou.
