Messi's plans for when he retires from football

Lionel Messi's future is the World Cup. What comes after Russia is more competition. At 30, Messi still isn't thinking about what comes after hanging his boots up. 

What next? Have you thought about coaching? 

I haven't thought about it. I don't want to. Everyone lives in their own way -- I try to go year after year, calmly. When the day arrives, we will see. I will find the path to follow, I will grab hold of it and we will see how everything goes.  

Are you ruling out management? 

Right now, I don't see myself as a manager. You never know what will happen, though. I heard Zidane once say he would never be a manager and after he ended up going into it. I don't see myself coaching but I don't know what will happen. 

Who's been your best coach? 

I had good experiences with all of them. I'm really grateful to Rijkaard for giving my the opportunity (to play), for having confidence in me, giving me my debut and keeping me calm. After that, there have been some really good coachs. Guardiola's among the best, no doubt. Luis Enrique is up there at the same level. 

With Tito and Tata there wasn't the same continuity...

It was a different year with Tito because of everything that happened, how he couldn't be with us. With Tata, it was a strange year, too, because he arrived with things out of hand. He was never able to be the coach that he was. With Valverde I feel spectacular because of the way he is, the way he speaks with the players, for being such a good person, sincere. I've had good experiences with all of them. I am grateful because I learned from them all. 

A goal you've not scored that you'd like to score?

I don't look at goals for their beauty, but their importance. The best goal of my career was the header in the Champions League final, for what that goal and that game meant. I don't have special goals marked out that I'd like to score because for me the special goals are the important ones.
