The club is not expecting any imminent developments, as several loose ends need to be tied up before a definitive agreement can be reached with the Argentina captain. Both parties remain calm in this regard, and they remain in constant contact with one another.
The idea is for Messi to pen a new deal in July before re-joining the squad in early August for the end of pre-season. Club officials are convinced that the player will be available for the curtain raiser against Real Sociedad on 15 August.
