Messi still hasn't responded to Bartomeu's offer to resign if Leo stays
The Barça president has offered to step down if it will ensure that Messi remains at the club
Josep Maria Bartomeu yesterday told Messi: I will resign if it means that Leo stays at Barça. The player and his father were informed of the 'offer' but, as of this moment, neither has replied. The saga continues but it appears clear that Messi still wants to leave Barcelona.
It's expected that Messi will give his thoughts on the current situation soon. At the moment, it's unknown how Leo will communicate his message but according to SPORT's sources that could be made clearer very soon.
Neither side wants to back down. Bartomeu doesn't want to sell Messi and especially not on the free transfer he's asking for. By contrast, Leo is determined to force through a move away and is set on joining Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
If nothing changes in the next couple of days, Messi is expected to present himself for PCR tests on Sunday. On Monday, Ronald Koeman will take charge of his first training session as Barça manager.
