FIFA have revealed the list of candidates for The Best 2020, which takes place virtually on December 17. Leo Messi is among them, the only Barca player on the list. Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara and Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos are also present.
The list is completed with Lewandowski, Mbappe, Neymar, Kevin de Bruyne, Mane, Salah, Van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Two La Liga coaches are nominated for that award, Zidane and Lopetegui, along with Marcelo Bielsa, Jurgen Klopp and Hans-Dieter Flick.
Barcelona’s Ter Stegen is up for the goalkeeper award, with Courtois, Oblak, Neuer, Navas and Alisson Becker.
For women’s football, Barca are the most represented team. Jennifer Hermoso and Caroline Graham Hansen are in the 11 nominees for best women’s player.
Lluis Cortes, the coach of the women’s side, is also up for best coach award.
FIFA will also give the Puskas award for best goal, with Suarez the only La Liga nomination, for his backheel goal against Mallorca on Dec 7, 2019.
