Messi or Griezmann? Setien's doubts about how to replace Suarez

Setién no descarta utilizar a Messi y Griezmann como falso 9 / | Maite Jiménez

The Uruguayan will be out for four months after having knee surgery last weekend

One of the first things Quique Setien must do as Barcelona coach is decide how to replace Luis Suarez, who will be out for four months after undergoing knee surgery last Sunday.

Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann are the options for Granada's visit this weekend, with one of them likely to operate as a false nine at Camp Nou.

The simplest option would perhaps be to play Griezmann as a false nine. It's an option that Ernesto Valverde used once this season, while Messi has also been utilised there.

Asked about the issue, Setien was diplomatic. "All options are valid." Returning to the subject, although this time with the focus on Griezmann, who's not always been able to play in his favoured position (through the middle or more to the right), the coach said you sometimes have to sacrifice yourself for the team.

"The absence of Luis is a problem, he's one of the best centre forwards in the world," Setien added. "It will be tough for the team without him for a while (...) but we will try to minimise the difficulties."
