Memphis Depay now very close to joining Barcelona

Memphis Depay will be, most likely, Barcelona’s next signing. Negotiations between the Dutch forward and the Blaugrana are virtually sealed, with only Ronald Koeman’s continuity as coach to be confirmed first. He is likely to be announced early next week.
Depay will join for three seasons with a low release clause and an acceptable salary plus objectives.
He has been negotiating with Barca for months. He was close to coming last summer but Barca could not afford the salary cost. Koeman wanted him in January but the election candidates did not want to sign him given he would be free from June 30.
Barca have had to reformulate their economic offer for him to get him in and the player accepted it, as long as Koeman is in charge.
Depay is keen to play at Barca and he rejected more money and more minutes guaranteed elsewhere. He also had a Lyon renewal offer, and Juve offering him basically double what he’ll get at Camp Nou. His choice is a sporting one. He’s convinced he can explode at Barca and win many titles.
Depay has a great relationship with Koeman, whom he considers a mentor.
