The Dutchman has agreed a deal with the capital club, and so have Barca

Memphis Depay is leaving Barca for Atletico Madrid. With the permission fo the club he did not attend training on Wednesday, ahead of the Copa del Rey clash with Ceuta on Thursday.

The forward is moving to the capital with both clubs agreeing the basis of a deal in the morning.

Atletico are replacing Joao Felix with Memphis, and he will sign on until 2025. The deal will see Barca earn around 3-5 million euros for a player who came for free from Lyon in the summer of 2021 - while the Catalans are also happy to ave his salary.

With the savings, they hope to be able to inscribe Gavi and Araujo’s deals.

Memphis arrived under Ronald Koeman and did well for the Dutch coach, but lost protagonism in the team after Xavi’s arrival. Injury plus Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrivals cost him.

In the summer Barca tried to sell him and Juve wanted him but his demands were too high and the deal fell through.

This season Memphis has only managed 206 minutes across four games and decided he wants to go.

In the dressing room they are not too happy with his attitude, suspecting in October and November he was reserving himself for the Qatar World Cup.
