The Dutch forward is looking forward to more minutes while with his national team

Memphis Depay is hungry. He has not played as much as he would like this season but hopes to turn his situation around and his goal against Elche could help him earn more playing time at Barcelona under Xavi.

The Dutch forward has been speaking to ESPN while with the national team this week.

"Of course I was looking forward to this international break, you can imagine why," he said. "I have played less than normal and it's not something I am used to. But here you know I will play and I am super motivated."

He added: "I have started twice in the last two weeks of LaLiga. It's not enough. I was taken off after an hour, but I wanted more. In the last 25 minutes of games is when there is more space and I have the energy to take advantage of it.

"Other clubs called at my door and I looked at my options. I decided to stay and fight for my chance at Barça. I was the top scorer last season along with Aubameyang. I love competition and I don't run from it. I love being at Barça."
