The Catalan club are hoping to sell De Jong and reduce the money owed to Braithwaite if he is sacked

Barcelona want to accelerate their sporting planning, above all with those players who are departing.

The club are set to meet with the agents of Frenkie de Jong and Martin Braithwaite to clear up their future today, according to ESPN. In the case of the former, Barcelona want to advance his potential move to Manchester United or Chelsea to earn a big transfer fee, although they want to know what the Dutchman‘s position is, first hand.

In terms of the Dane, Barcelona have tried everything and they will try to now agree on a termination of his contract that could benefit the club, even though the forward wants the rest of the money on the two years left of his deal.

Barcelona want a solution to the De Jong situation because they cannot pay his extremely high wage which has reached this height because of the deferral of his salary during the pandemic.

Barcelona‘s idea is to explore a transfer option, and for that they have negotiated with United and Chelsea to sell him for at least €80 million. If the player refuses to go then the club will try to force him to reduce his wage. Chelsea are pushing to sign him and are convinced they can get a deal. The London club think they can convince the Dutchman to come and play in the Champions League with them and lead their project from midfield. We’ll have to see whether he accepts a deal or not.

In terms of Braithwaite the club have made it clear they do not count on him and so far it’s been impossible to negotiate an exit deal for him even though they’ve had offers. It looks like he will have to be sacked, but the club are hoping to reduce the money owed to him. Per ESPN, the agents of Pjanic and Memphis Depay are also in Barcelona to discuss their futures.
