The Dutch duo could fetch the club up to 100 million euros in transfer fees

Barça coach Xavi Hernandez has spoken with the club’s sporting directors after arriving in the US for the tour and it was made clear to him that Barça are prioritising an exit for Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay to be able to continue forming the squad for next season.

The two players are reluctant to leave but the club think they should depart and the coach will speak to them about it in the coming days.

Both De Jong and Memphis know the club’s stance but not the coach’s and Xavi pushing them towards the exit might convince them to leave. De Jong has interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, while Memphis is waiting for a big club to come in for him.

Barcelona think the duo could fetch up to 100 million euros in transfer funds and would also save De Jong’s big salary which is fatter at the back end. Memphis is not on a high salary but the team’s new attacking signings doesn’t leave him any room.
